I see you can donate at the Dog Aging Project and The Dog Aging Institute? What’s the difference and will my donation to the Institute help the Dog Aging Project?
The Dog Aging Institute is a new and separate nonprofit organization focused on raising money and providing grants to canine health and aging research, such as the Dog Aging Project. However, there are multiple ways you can donate to benefit the Dog Aging Project, and they are all greatly appreciated!
Because the Dog Aging Project is a collaboration of researchers from multiple universities, you will see information about staff and team members at different locations, including the University of Washington, Tufts University, and Texas A&M University. The Dog Aging Project is not a standalone organization that can receive donations directly, so the University of Washington has accepted donations on behalf of the Project in the past, and at this time, you can continue to donate through the University of Washington.
Because the Institute is a 501(c)(3), it can accept donations directly and provide a tax receipt to donors. Funds donated through the Institute will be used for grants to the Project, and the funds can then support activities at any university where research is being conducted.
No matter where you donate, each contribution is greatly appreciated and helps to ensure this valuable field of research continues into the future!
Who will The Dog Aging Institute provide grants to and what are the criteria for receiving a grant?
The Dog Aging Institute seeks to advance innovative research that helps people and their dogs live healthier, longer lives. Research teams who study aging, age-related disease, factors that influence aging outcomes, and interventions to reduce or slow age-related disease in companion dogs would be eligible for support from the Dog Aging Institute.
How will I know what impact my donation to the Dog Aging Institute has ?
The Dog Aging Institute publishes an annual report to share information on the use of donor funds, the organizations receiving grants, and the outcomes and impact of the Institute’s work. Much of this information will be added to the website as available.

The Dog Aging Institute raises funds and provides grants to studies that are working to enhance the lives of all canine companions. The Institute supports research with companion dogs who live in the rich and varied environments that their owners provide. We prioritize the safety and well-being of both humans and dogs, and we are dedicated to supporting research that focuses on kindness, compassion, and the highest ethical standards. The Institute may support observational studies, analysis of existing data about dogs, or clinical trials, and will always put the safety and health of dogs at the forefront and take the welfare of all dogs into consideration when selecting projects to support.

How can I support the Dog Aging Project?
The Dog Aging Institute is a new and separate nonprofit organization focused on raising money and providing grants to support canine health and aging research, which includes the Dog Aging Project and other research studies. As two separate organizations, the Project and the Institute care about our companion dogs, with the Dog Aging Project remaining a collaboration of researchers conducting research and the nonprofit Dog Aging Institute focused on raising money to financially support canine aging research. Together, they believe they can make a difference in the lives of dogs and their humans as they age!
You can support the Dog Aging Project by enrolling a companion dog in the study if you haven’t already done so, and you can share information about participating in the Dog Aging Project with friends and family. Go to the Dog Aging Project website to learn more.
